little did we suspect that one of our dreams would be coming true so soon!

What if Wes Anderson Rebooted the Spider-Man Franchise? We asked this question ourselves on the site recently (among others), and while it was a fun exercise in fanboy fantasising, little did we suspect that one of our dreams would be coming true so soon!

Well, sort of.

Jeff Loveness has put together this little spoof trailer that lovingly parodies both Spider-Man and Anderson’s signature style. It’s quick, funny, smartly-written, and doesn’t overplay its hand — and also has one hell of an Owen Wilson impression by Conrad Flynn.

The wonders of the internet and digital cinema mean that mere weeks after the Spider-Man 4 project imploded and Anderson’s name was bandied about as a possible replacement, someone put together such an accomplished spoof — and already over forty thousand people have seen it!

But enough talk! Watch the short film itself embedded below! (And a very big thank you to Beth Loves Bollywood for the link!)

I keep finding the best ever clips for other people. Keith of teleport-city.com (a site you would love, if you don’t already know it) once asked me if there were any Bollywood films with ninjas, and within 5 minutes I had discovered Mithun’s Commando. He thanked me by an offer of marriage :)

You can be my link dealer any time! :) (and this is officially the first fan video to warrant its own random quote at the bottom of the page.)

All those hits coming from Illinois? That’s me refreshing until I get the quote.

I sooooo want to be a link dealer. I’ll need to work on being shady, but I think I can do it. It’s my only particular vamp niche role.

PS While we’re at it, Commando was my first Shashi movie, but I didn’t realize it for almost two years after watching pre-1984ish Shashi movies. I was looking at the DVD case of Commando and idly flipped it over to see what kind of crazy plot summary the back had, and looking at some of the random pictures they had stuck in, I went “Huh, that guy playing the general sure looks like a KapooOHMYGOD,” finally recognizing him in late 80s guise. I think this qualifies as INAUSPICIOUS. I like to count Shaan as my first ACTUAL Shashi film.

You know, off the top of my head I can’t quite recall Commando. I’m sure I’ve seen all or parts of it, but 80s Mithun movies tend to smoosh together in my head — probably because I last saw them in the 80s, and I reserve the majority of that era’s memory space to the Transformers cartoon. :)

This is all you will ever need to know to convince you to watch Commando.

I’d send you my DVD but it’s currently living with houseinrlyeh.blogspot.com in Germany :)

Have your say!
